Sonys new 50GB dual layer discs

If you download a lot of applications, take a lot of pictures, or just seem to amass large amounts of electronic data, you will be happy to know that Sony is unleashing 50GB dual layer blu-ray media disc’s.

The new Sony disc’s have the allowance of over four hours of HD quality video time, and will take advantage of Sony Blu-ray disc burners and Sony VAIO desktop and notebook computers. The main benefits of this new media are the scratch guard, archival reliability that is said to prevent data corruption and deterioration, and a stable writing surface that prevents warping during severe climate changes.

Blu-ray media discs are expected to be shipping late 2006 with a price of around $48. Get ready to archive!
