Nothing beats a wireless headset. No cables to interfere with day to day business, and the ability to be many feet away from your device.

With so many on the market, how on earth do you get the best one thats suited to your needs without spending a boatload of money? One of the first steps is to ask friends that might have one how they would rate there model. Then do a few searches online to see if you can come up with a forum or group that talks about the model you are interested in, in depth. If you feel like traveling down to the local cell phone or electronics store, the sales reps pretty much live and breath bluetooth headsets that pair with mobile devices, so they could match one to your needs.

In talking about online reviews, Information Week has come up with a review of three cool bluetooth headsets. They feature the must have new feature, noise cancellation technology. This ensures that background noise is muted, without looking for a quite location to make calls.

In their reviews, they look at the Aliph Jawbone a 14 gram bulky headset with 6 hours talktime or 120 minute standby. The Gennum nX6000, the smallest of the three, and least obtrusive weighing in at 10.9 grams. Again with 6 hours talk time and 90 hours stand by. And last, the Plantronics Discovery 655 at 9grams, with simple controls and with a few different ways to recharge, either through USB, AC, or through AA batteries.

The best thing to do when looking at Bluetooth headsets is to actually try them on, and get a feel for them. They will last long, so you dont want to get stuck with a sub par one that doesnt suite your tastes. Check out stores that offer a 30 day refund if you arent happy with your purchase, return it, and try another bluetooth model.

Watch your iPod movies on your mobile entertainment system with TransDock

The new TransDock from DLO lets users showcase movies on their auto entertainment systems care of their iPod. This system lets users take whatever is on an iPod and broadcast it over the automobiles system, whether its a movie, music, tv shows, images or anything else the iPod can store.

TransDock uses video output capabilities that let users channel out video downloads through headrest or ceiling mounted monitors in vehicles. It also uses FM radio and a 12volt power supply to stream music over a car stereo.

The device sells for $99 US from the DLO website.

This flash drive is great for anyone who carries a few flash drives on their bag wherever they go. Sometimes you just have no idea how much you already have stored on your flash drive until you plug it in and wait for it to be recognized.

The wild wild west gets train Wifi

If you are a train traveler and laptop user in good ol Texas, your ride might have just gotten a little easier. 4G Metro will put 10 Mbps per train on the Trinity Railway Express (TRE). The 4G Metro system will use ground based broadband to achieve the 10Mbps results using equipment from Colubris and Nortel.

The system will be available in early summer 2007.

Google’s phone to compete with Blackberry and iPhone

Rumors were sparking last year when there was talk of a Google phone coming out (the “Google Switch, Gphone”). Then we heard about Samsung teaming with the search giant to get the touchscreen development down. Now the news is out about the Gphone having Blackberry like features and available across multiple carriers instead of being locked down on one like Apple’s iPhone. There’s going to be a phone battle this summer for sure! When will Microsoft chime in on this?

When Apple’s iPhone was announced earlier this year the crowd went wild. Then we saw pics of LG Prada’s phone, and they looked surprisingly somewhat similar. With the iPhone launching later this summer, the LG is going to be launched on March 22nd. Owners are going to have to dish out quite a bit, $800 US, for this designer branded touch screen phone. So who will win out? Two big names will be battling it out this summer, and there will only be one big winner. Apple’s OSX inspired touch screen phone, and LG’s Spiffy Prada.

Blackberry 8300 coming soon?

RIM released the pearl-esk Blackberry 8800 not too long ago to much fanfare, now there are rumors, and pictures of an 8300, codenamed Daytona, circulating. Will this be the long awaited Blackberry device that will be Wifi enabled? The rumored 8300 looks very much like a cross between the 8800 and the Pearl, with a trackball, camera, and giant screen.

Whats up with train WiFi in Florida?

There was a big rush to get Wifi onto trains a while ago, and now apparently it has slowed down a considerable amount. Florida’s Tri-Rail system is not going to be speaking with potential vendors for internet access on trains, it will be building their own. Florida’s Regional Transportation Authority has touched base with Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade to create a large scale mass Wifi network across the counties. The UK, Sweden, and Netherlands are leaders in the train Wifi market.
